Secrets of Effective Dog Training

Training dogs and teaching them the boundaries makes them and the human being around them more comfortable.  There are various types of dog training programs and dog trainers who are very professional in training dogs.  But just because some trainer who has a flashy business card does not mean that they are a qualified trainer.  A very well trained dog is a joy to be with.  Apart from being very sociable, the trained dogs are less likely to pounce and bite people.  They are also trained to stay calm even in very distracting environments.  It has been found out that a well trained dog is not abandoned by the owner, on the contrary are kept till the end of their life.

It is not only sufficient to find a good trainer for training their dogs, but to find out what is the method they are planning to adopt.  It is also wise to know the benefits of the training before it is started with their pets.  While choosing a good trainer, it is good to take the advice of friends or relatives, or the acquaintances while walking the dog at the dog park, as they are more informed with a prior experience.

It does not matter much if a professional trains the dog or if it is done by the owner of the dog himself.  What matters the most is the cultivation of obedience in their dogs and the socializing aspect of the dog.  The following areas need to be covered in a dog training program:

Able to socialize with strangers needs to be accomplished, this can be done by walking the dog around the neighborhood and introducing their dog to them.

The dogs should also be able to socialize with other dogs.  This too can be accomplished by taking the dog to dog parks on a regular basis or it is better done in a dog training class.

Leash walking at a steady pace can be started as soon as the dog is purchased.

Crate training is very crucial as it builds the tolerance level of the dog when made to stay in a kennel for several hours together.

The dog should be able to understand the sit command, as it is very command taught by any trainer in any dog training program.  The down or the stand command helps the dog to understand his boundaries of liberty.  The stay command too is very important, as the dog needs to stay calm in adverse environments or when they are in an environment full of distractions.

Even though a dog is trained with all the above commands, it does not mean that they will not develop any behavioral problems down the lane, like the separation anxiety.

Above all a well trained dog through a dog training program strengthens the human-animal relationship altogether.
